Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about CBG flower, our products, and how ordering works.
What is CBG?
CBG stands for cannabigerol. It is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the hemp plant and is often called the "parent cannabinoid" because it is the chemical precursor from which THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids develop during plant growth. CBG is non-psychoactive — it does not produce intoxication — and is distinct from CBD in its effects, aroma, and growing profile. Users commonly describe it as producing a sense of calm and focus without the clouded-head feeling associated with THC.
Will CBG flower get me high?
No. CBG is non-psychoactive. Our flower contains less than 0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight — the federal legal threshold — which is too low to produce intoxication in a typical consumer. If you are looking for a flower you can smoke without the high, CBG is exactly that. Think of it as the non-alcoholic beer of cannabis: you keep the ritual, you skip the effect.
Is CBG flower legal?
Yes. CBG flower derived from hemp with less than 0.3% delta-9 THC is federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Sober Sativas products are grown and tested to comply with this standard. State-level legality varies — see our Shipping Policy for states we can and cannot ship to.
What does CBG flower taste and smell like?
CBG flower is generally described as herbal, earthy, and mildly floral — lighter and less pungent than high-THC cannabis. Our Stem Cell and White strains carry their own distinct profiles: Stem Cell leans toward a clean, earthy pine character while White presents brighter, more citrus-adjacent notes. Neither is harsh. Both smoke clean in a pipe, paper, or dry herb vaporizer.
How do I use CBG flower?
CBG flower is dried hemp flower — the same form factor as cannabis. You can smoke it in a pipe, roll it in papers, or use it in a dry herb vaporizer. Vaporizing at lower temperatures (<375°F / 190°C) will preserve terpenes and cannabinoids. There is no single right method — it comes down to your preference. If you have never used a dry herb vaporizer, it is worth trying; the flavor is cleaner and the experience is more consistent than combustion.
What is the difference between CBG and CBD?
Both are non-psychoactive cannabinoids found in hemp, but they are chemically distinct and interact with the body differently. CBD (cannabidiol) is by far the more familiar of the two — it appears in oils, gummies, topicals, and capsules. CBG (cannabigerol) is the rarer precursor cannabinoid that develops before CBD or THC form. Users who have tried both often report that CBG feels more alert and clear-headed where CBD can feel sedating at higher doses. In flower form, CBG burns and smokes similarly to CBD flower but with a distinct, lighter aroma.
Do you have lab results?
Yes. Every batch of Sober Sativas flower is third-party tested by an accredited lab. The Certificate of Analysis (COA) confirms the CBG percentage, verifies delta-9 THC is below the 0.3% federal threshold, and screens for contaminants including pesticides, heavy metals, and microbials. COAs are available on our Compliance page. You can also request a specific batch COA by emailing hello@sobersativas.com.
Do you ship to my state?
We ship CBG flower to 38 states. Check your state's shipping status and legal requirements on our Where We Ship page.
Why is an adult signature required?
Federal law (the PACT Act) requires adult signature confirmation for all smokable hemp product deliveries. You must be 21 or older to receive your order. If no one is home at the time of delivery, the carrier will leave instructions for scheduling a redelivery or arranging pickup at a carrier location.
